Working with top executives at the organization and staff from around the Conservancy, this project aims to increase TNC’s global impact by reimagining how we manage our portfolio of conservation strategies across the globe. We’ll be digging into how we prioritize work across varying sectors and continents, how we hold ourselves accountable for impact, and how we move more resources towards our greatest opportunities for impact. This project is sponsored by TNC’s Chief Conservation Officer David Banks and the Director of Conservation Programs Joni Ward and is led by Luke Hawbaker, the Director of Portfolio Management. This position is a short-term, part-time position. It will run for 6 months. This location is flexible within the United States.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This role will play a key leadership role, partnering with the Director of Portfolio Management to ensure successful delivery to scope, schedule, and budget. The project manager will be responsible for shepherding our “learning by doing” approach, involving two intensive co-working sessions per week with our team of experienced TNC conservationists and frequent testing and feedback. The project manager should possess excellent attention to detail and an ability to manage complexity and interdependencies across projects. It is preferred that the project manager have experience with lean/agile/scrum approaches to project manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Create and maintain the project plan (goals, deliverables, scope, timeline, method) and hold team members accountable to those commitments
  • Run weekly planning meetings and help structure and facilitate weekly co-working sessions
  • Track learning and feedback as we test frameworks/approaches
  • Work with the project director and sponsor to prepare for steering committee meetings, including some of TNC’s top executives.
