Description

The Climate Intelligence Program focuses on making emissions visible and translating data into actionable insights and tools for those best positioned to reduce emissions. We collaborate with a global network of NGOs, academics, policymakers, financial institutions, and businesses to enable emissions reductions in some of the highest emitting industrial sectors. Our work focuses not only on quantifying the risks of climate inaction but also on identifying emerging opportunities to meet 1.5-degree climate targets. As part of the Climate Intelligence Program, the Supply Chain Emissions initiative seeks to demystify carbon accounting practices and to develop insights that drive decarbonization. We are hiring a Manager to lead Market Activation efforts under Horizon Zero, a multi-year, multi-million dollar project in the Supply Chain Emissions initiative of the Climate Intelligence Program. The Market Activation Manager will be responsible for executing pilots with corporates, NGOs, and technology companies that utilize insights developed by the Supply Chains team and it’s partners, working towards the development of a financially material carbon market based off of improved environmental disclosure.  

Core Responsibilities: 

Drive Adoption of Standards & Tools Developed by Climate Intelligence 

  • Manage relationships and convene key stakeholders (industry groups, corporates, and NGOs) to support development of improved carbon accounting standards for industrial supply chains 
  • Develop and execute pilot projects with these stakeholder groups to validate methods & technologies for improved emissions transparency of industrial products, with focuses in the automotive, building, and technology sectors 
  • Coordinate with technical staff in and outside of RMI to publicize results of piloting efforts and encourage broader adoption with standards bodies and industry groups. 

Managing projects to yield breakthrough insights and results 

  • Shape project strategies from inception to conclusion: determine change models, research methods, timelines, resource plans, communications plans, and stakeholder engagement.  
  • Determine how results will be measured, and be accountable for project results 
  • Rigorously challenge and vet findings from RMI teams and partners 
  • Act as the lead relationship manager with project partners and stakeholders 
  • Mentor and motivate project team members. Resolve any issues throughout project life cycle, including writing project-level reviews for junior staff 
  • Oversee teams that number between 2 to 25 contributors (internal and external) 
  • Collaborate with operations team members to ensure adherence to RMI policy and procedure 
  • Lead procurement efforts for projects where necessary 

Provide thought leadership 

  • Collaboratively develop strategies for scaling supply chain transparency & climate differentiated markets 
  • Lead and contribute to research efforts and publications 
  • Represent RMI as an industry expert at key conferences and other public speaking events 
  • Regularly contribute to external interviews, videos, and publications by sharing project insights
