The Native Seed Stewards (NSS) are contract field positions spanning 7 months, beginning late April 2020 through early November 2020; The positions are scheduled to resume in 2021 on a limited basis to make additional collections as necessary. The NSS(s) will conduct native seed collections, either independently or as a team of two, from a vetted list of highly desired plants as identified by program partners vital for pollinator habitat enhancement and restoration. The positions will require the ability to work a flexible monthly schedule due to the nature of flora phenology and associated responsibilities. Collections will be made at sites within the Forest Preserves of Cook County and the Dixon Waterfowl Refuge, managed by The Wetlands Initiative, in Putnam County, IL.
