The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, the Government of the United Kingdom, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Organization of the Indigenous Peoples of the Colombian Amazon (OPIAC) and the National Commission of Indigenous Women (CNMI) came together to motivate actions that contribute to the implementation of the country’s agreements in multilateral environmental conventions to avoid transgressing planetary limits, with a differential focus on those most vulnerable and excluded territories and populations.

As part of this commitment, UNDP and its partners are implementing two initiatives:

  • The Climate Promise initiative, which begins a second stage and is funded by the United Kingdom Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to strengthen and accelerate the implementation of Colombia’s commitments to change climate and biodiversity, with the participation of Indigenous Peoples.

  • The Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Network (BES-Net), funded by the International Climate Initiative of the German government (IKI), seeks to implement the recommendations of the National Assessment of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services published by Colombia in 2021.
