The AICCRA aims to increase access for agriculture research and extension service providers in Africa to knowledge, technologies, and decision-making tools relevant to enhancing the resilience of agriculture and food systems in the face of climate change. The AICCRA West Africa cluster aims to implement the sub-regional component of AICCRA in WA through building multi-actor partnerships of existing scientific and educational networks and centers in order to achieve outcomes that cannot be achieved easily, if at all, by engaging with individual partners at country level. The objective of this position is to (i) deliver high quality science/research and (ii) monitor and evaluate a portfolio of projects and their timely execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project plans for the advancement of partnerships with regional and national organizations, the monitoring and evaluation of project activities and budget implementation according to contracts with partners
- Impulse research on the management of risk from climate change and variability and the upscaling of climate-smart agriculture through spillover and south-south learning
- Design yearly work plan and budget for a portfolio of projects as well as reviewing and synthesizing project results for reporting
- Provide advice to AICCRA anchored countries and collaborate with other AICCRA regions, CGIAR Centers and partners for coherent implementation of initiatives and for specific contributions to AICCRA global level initiatives
- Represent the Regional Coordinator in national, regional and international meetings and initiatives
- Communicate scientific results among partners, CGIAR Centers and the scientific community
- Engage with country teams, regional and national policy makers and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate project implementation and attainment of spillover outcomes
- Design, organize and participate to workshops, meetings and capacity‐building activities of AICCRA
- Deliver AICCRA-WA science/research outputs through the production of journal articles, working papers, policy briefs and info notes
- Implement project planning and reporting on the MARLO platform as per defined deadlines
- Contribute to fund raising through development of research proposals in collaboration where possible, with partners
