The Associate Director of Global Policy and Campaigns is responsible for leading the development of 350.org’s policy work, ensuring that campaigns across the organization can be built integrating substantive, credible policy analysis and clear policy stances, as well as leading global campaigns that will move forward our global strategies and priorities.
Through developing and maintaining a clear process for analysis of climate policy news and the creation of talking points and responses, as well producing regular briefings for the organization on current geopolitical contexts and trends, the Associate Director of Global Policy and Campaigns will ensure that 350.org is attuned to the latest developments in climate diplomacy and that our campaigns and communications are optimised to respond and relate to them.
This role will also lead global campaigns that contribute to 350.org’s strategy, with a focus on the financing of the fossil fuel industry. A key project that this role will lead on brings together campaigning from 350.org’s Asia, Africa and Europe Regional Teams and external partners. This campaign involves high level negotiations with a major financial institution and navigating a globally distributed campaign coalition through challenging diplomatic territory.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years experience of managing international campaigns in humanitarian or development work, climate justice, social justice, human rights or related work.

- Expertise in climate policy and diplomacy.
- Experience in global campaign leadership.
- Proven track record of campaigning in countries in the Global South.
- Experience in analyzing emerging trends and opportunities, and building strategies and tactics for global and regional campaign, movement building and mobilization.
- Experience in security management and risk assessments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to cultivate and establish partnerships with colleagues, external partners and other stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to translate complex data into clear and simple messages for a wide range of audiences.
- A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI), anti-racism or anti-oppression work. Ability to manage across differences and work effectively with people from diverse racial, ethnic, class, age, gender, and sexual orientation backgrounds.
- Comfort and ease working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong ability to manage and work with remote teams from across the globe.
- Fluency in English.
Desired (but not required) skills and experiences
- Experience of digital campaigning / a strong understanding of how digital tools, platforms and storytelling can be used to further campaign goals and how to work effectively with digital staff on campaigning projects.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
