Description

As a vital member of the Colorado Parks for People and our national Community Strategies teams, this position will be responsible for a full range of activities associated with the implementation of The Trust for Public Land’s Parks for People Program in Colorado as well as work alongside a cohort of TPL community engagement staff led by our Community Strategies team. The position will act as a conduit between the Colorado team and national program staff by helping to create a feedback loop between our best-in-class field engagement in Colorado and TPL’s national resources and tools for community engagement led by our Community Strategies team.

At this time all Trust for Public Land employees are working remotely. You will begin your employment working remotely from your home office and will transition to the Denver office once the organization makes the determination to re-open its offices.  Even then, your schedule is likely to be a to-be-determined mix of home and office work.

This position requires travel and working ‘off-hours’ including some weekend and evening meetings and events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • 60% Project Management-Colorado Parks for People: Working with the Parks for People Managing Director and Colorado Parks for People Team, the Project Manager will develop relationships with community representatives, government agencies, city staff, non-profit partners, the arts and cultural community, neighborhood leaders, and residents to implement community-driven park, trail, and schoolyard projects. The project manager will be responsible for all aspects of outreach, planning, design, and construction of projects including coordinating community meetings and events, creating outreach materials (e-mail lists, online groups, bilingual fliers, etc.), project budgets, consultant management, invoicing, grant writing, etc.
  • 30% Community Strategies-National: Work with the Community Strategies team to inventory best practices for community engagement from across the country and Colorado in order to organize and catalog them for distribution to our peer network within The Trust for Public Land.  The project manager will also conduct on-the-ground project evaluation of the Colorado team’s community engagement work in 1-2 communities.
  • 10% Program Strategy and Advancement: Act as a conduit between and collaborate with both the Colorado Parks for People and national Community Strategies team. Help develop and implement new strategies to improve and deepen our impact. Advocate for engagement best practices and access to nature in cities and towns around the state and work with the Philanthropy team to build philanthropic support for the program.
