UNDP Serbia is supporting the Ministry of Environmental Protection through Global Environment Facility (GEF) projects such as GEF8 “Green Cities Transformation” and GEF7 “Reducing Community Carbon Footprint.” These initiatives focus on low-carbon urban solutions, circular economy approaches and nature-based interventions across three cities including Novi Sad and Zrenjanin. The projects aim to improve waste management, reduce emissions and promote green infrastructure, while engaging local communities and stakeholders through participatory platforms and public-private partnerships. UNDP is seeking a communication professional to support media outreach and visibility efforts for these projects, in coordination with the Serbia Communications Team.

Job Responsibilities

Communications Planning and Implementation

• Develop and implement communications and visibility plans.

• Monitor and update plans to improve outreach and impact.

Digital Content

• Produce and submit project content (articles, posts, visuals) for social media and website publication.

• Maintain project subpages and upload publications.

• Monitor digital trends and suggest improvements.

• Draft and schedule social media content.

• Create video scripts, organize recordings and oversee production of promotional videos and testimonials.

Data Collection

• Gather stories, quotes and data for articles, blogs, and fact sheets.

• Track media coverage and summarize communication activities.

• Generate quarterly analytics reports on project performance across platforms.

• Monitor and highlight relevant media articles.

Public Information and Advocacy

• Support planning and implementation of public events.

• Draft press releases, talking points and media materials.

• Report on media engagement for each public activity.

Administration

• Manage payments and budgets for communication-related services.

• Maintain communication files and archives.

• Translate content between English and Serbian when needed.

Knowledge Management

• Compile and archive knowledge products.

• Upload content to internal databases and websites.

• Liaise with vendors and service providers as needed.

Institutional Arrangement

• Reports to the Project Manager and collaborates closely with the UNDP Serbia Communications Team to align messaging.

Job Requirements

Education

• Secondary education required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Graphic Design or related fields is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 7 years (with secondary education) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible experience in communications at the national or international level.

• Proven experience in website management and media relations.

• Familiarity with social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).

• Experience managing communications within projects, including event organization and strategy development.

Languages

• Fluency in Serbian and English.
