The Conservation Steward will support TNC’s mission by maintaining nature preserve areas for public access and ecological stewardship. The role focuses on land management, invasive species removal, and species monitoring. The position involves frequent fieldwork, including operating equipment and managing preserve infrastructure across multiple sites in the region. A work vehicle will be provided for travel to preserve sites.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain trailheads, signage, kiosks and trails through mowing, trimming and obstacle removal.

• Help plan and guide volunteer trail maintenance teams and coordinate with partner organizations.

• Record fieldwork and preserve conditions using digital tools.

• Operate safely under physically demanding and variable weather conditions.

• Work independently while making day-to-day field decisions under supervisor direction.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, plus 1 year of training or relevant field experience.

• Demonstrated ability to identify plant and animal species.

• Experience operating equipment such as lawn mowers, chainsaws, UTVs or ATVs.

• Experience working collaboratively in team settings.

• Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications.

• Valid driver’s license and eligibility under TNC’s Auto Safety Program.

• Desired: 1–2 years in land management, natural systems knowledge, field data collection, cross-cultural experience and multi-lingual skills.

• Salary: USD 21.00/hour (salary may vary by location and qualifications)
