Academic Qualifications Advanced university degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in environmental management/governance/policy related sciences or related fields is required. Interdisciplinary exposure across environmental, social and/or economic disciplines is desirable. A first level university degree combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Working Experience A minimum of seven years of progressive experience on environmental policy development and associated natural resource/ecosystem management is required. Experience at the international level is desirable. Concrete experience working on traditional knowledge and with indigenous peoples and local communities is desirable. Experience within the United Nations system is also desirable. Competencies required: Professionalism

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of other UN official languages is desirable. NOTE: “Fluency equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of “confident” in two of the four areas.
