The Nature Conservancy supports Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) to manage lands and waters in ways that align with cultural values, improve people’s livelihoods and wellbeing and promote environmental outcomes. We work in partnership with IPLCs across more than 20 countries on shared environmental, economic, and human wellbeing outcomes.

The Nature Conservancy also understands the critical role of investments, corporate practices, and markets in enabling economic development and solving the dual crises of climate change and biodiversity loss. TNC has established the Impact Finance & Markets division, bringing together talent from across the organization to shape direction on those areas around the world. The Corporate Engagement and Human Rights Analyst is part of the Corporate Engagement team within the Impact Finance & Markets Division; reports to the Senior Advisor, Corporate Engagement; and provides research, analysis and coordination in partnership with Corporate Engagement team members.

The Corporate Engagement and Human Rights Analyst provides research and analysis in support of The Nature Conservancy’s corporate engagement priorities and conservation goals, remaining up to date on industry trends, emerging risks, and new opportunities. They provide services, risk analysis, best practices, and expertise regarding corporate engagement with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) to assist in designing and assessing private sector collaborations that advance the organization’s conservation agenda and promote human rights and equity. They build and facilitate internal networks, coordinating meetings, agendas, and presentations.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

  • Ensures program compliance with internal policies and external requirements.
  • Works within scope of program’s strategic goals.
  • Provides research and analysis on corporate sustainability trends and best practices that promote human rights and equity to support our private sector engagement priorities.
  • Provides expertise, research and analysis on corporate engagements with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities to inform risk assessments and management strategies, and the design of private sector collaborations that support human rights and equity at the international, country, sub-national, and local levels.
  • May assist with preparation of program materials including presentations, memos, and other communications.
  • Works independently and in collaboration with supervisor on complex matters as needed.
