Description

The Project Analyst will provide technical, analytical, and coordination support to the Ecosystem Restoration and Resilient Development in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (ERRD-CHT) project. The role focuses on biodiversity conservation, environmental restoration, and resilient ecosystem development—empowering communities through inclusive, gender-responsive approaches to natural resource management, in partnership with local institutions and stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

Technical Support and Implementation

  • Lead biodiversity and environmental assessments, ecosystem restoration planning, and development of community conservation action plans.

  • Guide reforestation, watershed protection, species selection, and ecological monitoring strategies.

  • Prepare biodiversity training modules and deliver training of trainers (ToT) sessions.

  • Coordinate with implementing partners, community stakeholders, and local government.

Community Engagement and Capacity Building

  • Ensure meaningful participation of women, youth, and Indigenous groups in biodiversity decision-making.

  • Build capacity of community-based groups (e.g., Biodiversity Conservation Groups, Village Common Forests).

  • Organize participatory workshops and education campaigns.

  • Integrate traditional ecological knowledge into restoration planning.

Policy and Institutional Coordination

  • Align project activities with national biodiversity strategies and local government plans.

  • Coordinate with national departments (DoE, BFD, DAE) and Hill District Councils.

  • Support preparation of policy briefs and case studies.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Knowledge Management

  • Support development of M&E tools, communication plans, and progress tracking.

  • Maintain biodiversity indicators and monitor outcomes such as species recovery and forest health.

  • Document lessons learned, success stories, and prepare technical reports for donors and government.

Job Requirements

  • Education:

    • Master’s degree in Environmental Management, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or related fields.

    • Bachelor’s degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered.

  • Experience:

    • 2 years (with Master’s) or 4 years (with Bachelor’s) of experience in biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, or related areas.

    • Field experience in community-based adaptation and Indigenous area projects preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of tropical ecosystems, native species, biodiversity monitoring.

    • Experience with M&E, coordination, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement.

    • Familiarity with gender and social inclusion in environmental programming.

  • Languages:

    • Fluency in English and Bangla required.

    • Knowledge of CHT Indigenous languages is an asset.
