Org. Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. This position is located in the Resource Mobilization Section (Member States), Corporate Services Division at the Nairobi duty station.

Under the supervision of the Head of Resource Mobilization Section of the Corporate Services Division, the incumbent is responsible for analysing the organization’s funding needs, sources and funding partners with focus on member states. S/he will develop instruments tools for widening the funding base and be part of the team for establishing and maintaining relationships with member states. The incumbent will perform the following functions:

Responsibilities
•Leading the research and preparation of reports, analytical briefings and profiles on funding partners including their policies, trends and potential support to UNEP. Preparing strategies for member state funding partners in close collaboration with regional offices.
•Supporting the establishment, development and maintenance of relationships with new member state funding partners and the maintenance of existing funding partnerships, including organizing meetings and consultations with regional and political groups and individual member states or groups of member states. Coordinating the recording and follow-up action of the meetings.
•Leading the development and production of analysis of the organization’s funding and income patterns. Preparing recommendations on potential sources of funding, with focus on member state resources, for filling the gaps in resources that have been identified in the Programme of Work and its sub programmes.
•Developing and implementing concepts and mechanisms for attracting softly earmarked funding, e.g. thematic funds and multi-partner trust funds, as a complementary source to core funding in close collaboration with programme divisions.
•Researching, analysing and presenting information on fund raising activities and strategies undertaken by other organizations in order to identify best practices and ideas for enhancing UNEP’s resource mobilization activities.
•Developing and maintaining systems and tools for in-house collaboration for resource mobilization with focus on member states. Supporting the regular organisation and follow-up on meetings, especially with the regional offices. Making presentations and conducting workshops in support of organisation’s resource mobilization.
•Performing other related duties as required.
