The Sustainable Practices Senior Manager provides leadership and supervision of all aspects in promoting responsible use of coastal and marine resources and fair shared responsibility of producers and consumer in restoring and protecting the ecosystems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop the business plan and program strategic plan for blue economy development portfolio, covering responsible aquaculture, fisheries value added products, ecotourism, marine biotechnology, and blue carbon finance program.
  • Improve community’s livelihoods practices to meet the globally recognized standard/certification for environmental and social sustainability.
  • Identify and establish market link for products and services from community’s sustainable practices.
  • Work together with relevant TNC and YKAN teams in identifying and evaluating funding opportunities, drafting project proposals, donor reports, both for public and private sources
  • Assist IOP Director in undertaking management responsibilities as necessary related to blue economy, such as develop key materials for meetings and conference, put together and feed necessary information to the Program Development and Learning unit.
  • Assist the IOP Director in staff management of the sustainable practices, including team building, assessing capacity gaps and capacity building needs, and developing strategies to address them in collaboration with HRD.

The Sustainable Practices Senior Manager reports to the IOP Director and is based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

RESPONSIBILITES & SCOPE

  • Geographic size and scope is that of a larger, complex business unit and/or a program that requires cross-boundary work and relationships.
  • Establishes and maintains optimal performance standards within budget.
  • Contributes in writing for requests for proposal (RFPs) for grant/contract funding for program.
  • Frequently makes independently strategic decision based on analysis, ambiguous information and judgment.
  • Negotiates complex agreements, in a political environment.
  • May be responsible for leading or co-leading a whole system program.
  • Frequent travel domestically and/or internationally, evening and weekend hours.
  • May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances.
