Description
The Climate Program Associate supports grant management, builds and facilitates internal networks, coordinates meetings, agendas, and presentations, and conducts other activities in support of TNC’s climate policy teams.  They may also assist with research on relevant climate policy issues to advance TNC’s conservation agenda and represent TNC at related public events. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Support for grant management, which may include, but is not limited to, coordinating reporting processes, scheduling management updates, attending quarterly finance meetings for multiple grants to the Climate Program.
  • Team coordination such as scheduling meetings, setting agendas, and other administrative functions for the International and US Climate Policy program teams.
  • Organize special events such as team retreats or workshops, including coordination with external vendors.
  • Maintain internal databases for team documents. 
  • Communicate on behalf of team with staff in various programs across the Conservancy.
  • Responsibilities may also include supporting TNC delegations in preparation of key international forums such as the UNFCCC consisting of hotel negotiation, coordinating nomination process, managing side event application process, scheduling regional consultations for strategic objective setting process, and other logistics as needed.
  • May supervise administrative staff and/or volunteers, interns, or temporary staff.
  • Financial responsibility which may include developing and working within a budget, processing check requests, and completing travel expense reports.
  • May provide research and policy analysis in support of legislative, corporate and/or policy priorities.
  • May provide assistance with preparation of program materials including presentations, memos, and other communications.
  • Works independently, working with supervisor on complex matters as needed.
  • Makes independent decisions within the scope of work assignments.
