The Senior Organizer builds strategic, leadership, and technical capacity to grow the impact of the Forest for All NYC coalition and to drive the implementation of the NYC Urban Forest Agenda. They develop and maintain key partnerships with public and private organizations. They identify and resolve needs and issues of the coalition and implement solutions and best practices. They will report to the Deputy Director of the Cities team in New York and will work with the Cities team and consultants to assist with strategic planning needs for Forest for All NYC, plan and support related meetings, and manage outreach and other communications with existing and new coalition members. They leverage cross-disciplinary knowledge to address the needs of the coalition and engage local community support for the NYC Urban Forest Agenda. They may advise TNC communications, marketing and philanthropy staff on issues related to the work of Forest for All NYC.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Programmatic scope requires close collaboration, engagement, and coordination with a range of working partners (public, private, nonprofit) at the City, State and Federal level.
- Collaborate with project team and working partners to further sustain and grow the impact of the Forest for All NYC coalition and drive the effective implementation of the NYC Urban Forest Agenda.
- Apply best practices of coalition and campaign development to advance Forest for All NYC.
- Respond to strategic opportunities to advance the NYC Urban Forest Agenda.
- Ensure effective communications with and among Forest for All NYC members, existing and new.
- Develop creative approaches to facilitate decision-making and coordination across Forest for All NYC.
- Manage and collaborate with multi-disciplinary contractors to advance programmatic goals.
- Establish and track program benchmarks. Design interventions to ensure program is on track, as needed.
- Participate in securing public and private funds to meet program needs.
- Build cooperation from outside parties to accomplish program goals.
- Make independent decision based on analysis, experience, cross-disciplinary knowledge, and context.
- Produce reports, summaries, presentations, assessments, or other necessary communications products related to Forest for All NYC and the NYC Urban Forest Agenda.
