We are looking for a well-rounded professional with solid technical and policy analysis capability, strong relationship-building and project management skills. This position supports NRDC’s goal of expediting the peaking of China’s carbon emission. The Senior Project Manager will lead NRDC’s EV-grid integration implementation work in China, which addresses emissions reductions in both the transportation sector and power sector, by promoting greater adoption of electric vehicles (EV) while minimizing their impact on the power grid and helping the power grid to operate more efficiently.

 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to partner with NRDC’s staff of lawyers, scientists, and policy advocates and analysts, scientists and lawyers who protect the environment and public health through advocacy, action, and education.

• Lead NRDC’s EV-grid integration implementation, including actively working with utilities, charging infrastructure providers, EV industry stakeholders and local government officials to design and implement and promote EV participation in local demand response pilots.
• Develop and manage research that support EV-grid integration, including working with partners to prepare research proposals, budgets and contracts, monitoring progress and managing project to timely and high quality completion.
• Promote knowledge sharing and exchange both internally and externally, including liaising with NRDC’s EV project teams in the U.S. and India to exchange knowledge, share experiences and support the implementation of a multi-region EV strategy.
• Work with project partners to develop policy recommendations, communicate project findings, develop project case studies and write technical and/or policy summaries and briefs, and develop and/or give presentations at conferences, meetings and workshops as needed to promote a positive policy outcome.
• Keep up-to-date on the latest policies, industry landscape, business model development and implementation progress regarding transportation electrification in China and internationally, and adjust project strategies as needed with a view toward promoting eventual adoption of truly zero/low carbon vehicles in China.
• Contribute to NRDC’s climate and clean power strategy development and fundraising efforts, support team to implement and monitor progress, and meet project compliance and reporting requirements.
