The Distributed Organizing Specialist will help us develop our local organizing infrastructure that will allow volunteers to organize in their own communities, learn core skills, and build relationships that keep them involved in this work for the long haul. This role will play a key role in our shift from a mobilization team to a distributed organizing team.

This role is for somebody who is passionate about strengthening and diversifying the environmental movement, and sees people power built through distributed organizing and on-the-ground action as the way to win big change.

The Distributed Organizing Specialist will:

• Recruit, train and support local volunteer leaders and teams to organize on-the-ground-action to drive Greenpeace campaigns and further our mission.
• Develop and manage high-level volunteer trainers and coaches who onboard and mentor local organizing leaders and teams.
• Design and lead high impact volunteer calls and trainings to onboard new volunteers and grow the depth of engagement and leadership of existing volunteers.
• Develop guides and interactive online trainings that build core organizing skills for our volunteers.
• Be flexible and responsive in projects — pivot and support programs as needed in order to meet the stated goals.
• Coach and train other Greenpeace staff on engagement tools and best practices.
• Work with the Distributed Organizing Manager to create long term strategies to build volunteer power and help win Greenpeace campaigns.
• Foster a culture of positivity, emotional intelligence and support amongst volunteers at all times.
• Flexible working hours including evenings required.
