CI has worked in Cambodia since 2002. We have multiple conservation projects in the Central Cardamom Mountains National Park (CCMNP), Tonle Sap Great Lake, Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Veun Sai-Siem Pang National Park. CI works in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, other international conservation and development organizations, local non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.

The CCMNP Landscape Technical Manager will serve as the overall technical lead for CI’s large-scale program in the Central Cardamoms and supporting areas. In particular, the CCMNP Landscape Technical Manager will be responsible for the management of CI-Cambodia’s multi-year Legacy Landscape Fund program, under the guidance and direction of the Landscapes Senior Manager and the Conservation Programs Senior Technical Director. They will manage the project field team supporting the conservation and management of CCMNP and supporting the development of sustainable community livelihoods, REDD+ program, and blended finance program in the broader support landscape.

The CCMNP Landscape Technical Manager is responsible for ensuring project activities meet project standards and project deliverables are completed on time and within budget. They lead the team in project work planning, implementation, and activity reporting. The national Landscape Manager will report to the CCMNP Landscape Technical Manager. The CCMNP Landscape Technical Manager will work with the Landscapes Senior Manager, Conservation Programs Senior Technical Director, and broader Landscape team to help in the development of innovative projects within the landscape, contributing technical knowledge to funding proposals, as well as peer-reviewed and other journal articles. They will work closely with the Landscapes Senior Manger and the CI-Cambodia Management Team to ensure management is aligned with CI’s objectives, develop new partnerships, and provide technical advice to relevant Cambodian national and provincial authorities and other conservation partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and ensure effective project management of CI’s activities in the Central Cardamoms Mountain National Park and support landscape, particularly under the Legacy Landscape Fund program, including work plans, budget monitoring, operational logistic support, staffing, procurement, and reporting.
  • Excellent project management and project operations skills – timely reporting and work planning, alignment with donor requirements, and understanding of donor requirements, planning, and policies.
  • With guidance from the Landscape Senior Manager, and support from the Landscape Team ensure alignment of project field activities and interventions with REDD+ (e.g. VCS/CCB) safeguard requirements, including FPIC requirements, and outputs from the Project Documents.
  • Support the management and implementation of agreements and partnerships including with government and communities.
  • Under guidance from the Landscapes Senior Manager, help gather, develop and share project information, actions plans, and deliverables with internal and external project stakeholders, including government, private sector, non-governmental organizations, and donors.
  • Represent CI and ensure effective communications and information sharing between partners and stakeholders, particularly at the provincial level.
  • Monitor project progress and identify trends and corrective actions to resolve problems and ensure future project efficiencies. Help identify tools, resources, and training that will facilitate project success.
  • Manage the preparation of reporting summaries and project narratives. Collaborate with CI-Cambodia finance and operations staff on project financial reporting.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Continue CI forest policy reform process with NGO stakeholders and government partners; contribute to technical and policy advise on current and new policies made by the Ministry of Environment of Cambodia.
