We’re looking for an individual with land protection and leadership experience who wants to make a difference for nature and people.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • BA/BS degree in natural resources management, conservation, business, law or another related field of study and at least 5 years’ experience in land conservation or planning, real estate, law, business, finance or related field.
  • Experience working with a wide range of people, such as landowners, tribal members, trustees and donors, land trusts, corporate executives, and government officials.
  • Experience negotiating and executing land transactions and agreements.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in developing and managing multiple projects and timelines.
  • Experience setting, communicating, and executing on a conservation vision.

In addition, the following skills and/or experiences would be an asset for this role but are not required. For applicants without these, please view these as areas or skillsets where you may have opportunities for growth in the Land Protection Strategies Director role:

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience.
  • MA/MS/MBA degree in natural resources management, conservation, business, law, or another related field of study.
  • Knowledge of current trends and strategies in land protection, including land for water and land for climate approaches.
  • Knowledge of “land back” approaches to convey land to indigenous communities or trusts and/or ensure equitable access to lands.
  • Experience negotiating complex agreements.
  • Experience in innovative strategies and finance for land protection, including carbon markets, climate mitigation, ecosystem services markets, wetland banking or others.
