MEKONG DELTA
As part of the IKI VN-ADAPT, ICEM is leading the NbS design component. In the upper Mekong Delta, the key NbS is to transition out of the third rice crop into crops that are adapted to the Mekong flood pulse. The legal basis for this transition was established by Government Resolution 120 issued in 2017, which is now supported by several national and internationally supported projects. The challenge now is to monitor this transition and document the environmental benefits of transitioning out of intensive rice to a more natural, higher value crop mix. TASKS To monitor the implementation of Resolution 120 and related projects and programs, IUCN wishes to hire a consultant or form to use high resolution satellite data to produce a GIS database of the intensity of rice cropping in fields across all the four upper delta provinces of Kien Giang, An Giang, Dong Thap, and Long An for calendar 2024. The minimum number of land classes are: (1) triple rice, (2) double rice, and (3) other. DELIVERABLES The following deliverables will be completed by 30 June 2025.
1. Polygons dataset for each province classified as triple rice, double rice, etc. (ESRI Shapefile)
2. Map of the classification per province (PDF)
3. Short summary document, including assessment of classification accuracy (MS Word) BUDGET This is a fixed price contract with a maximum budget of USD 10,000.
