Academic Qualifications Advanced university degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in environmental management/governance/policy related sciences, or related fields, is required. A first level university degree combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Working Experience A minimum of seven years of progressive experience on environmental policy development and associated natural resource/ecosystem and/or management and/or climate change adaptation and mitigation is required. Experience at the international level is desirable. Concrete experience on the relationship between climate and biodiversity policies is desirable. Experience within the United Nations system is desirable. Competencies Required: Professionalism – Planning and organization – Communication.
Languages
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of other UN official languages is desirable. NOTE: “Fluency equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of “confident” in two of the four areas.
