This internship offers students hands-on experience at the intersection of sustainable agriculture, circular food systems and ecosystem restoration. Interns will contribute to crop monitoring, regenerative agriculture, and policy dialogues, working closely with WRI Rwanda and local partners including the Rwanda Space Agency and MINAGRI.
Internship Focus Areas & Responsibilities
1. Crop Productivity Mapping

Participate in field data collection for crop types and yields.

Support piloting of yield monitoring systems.

Contribute to data analysis and crop productivity reports.

Help design protocols and survey tools.
2. Circular Food Systems

Support SMEs in applying circular economy principles.

Assist with regenerative practices, organic waste repurposing, and composting initiatives.

Participate in multi-stakeholder platform dialogues and identify local scaling opportunities.
3. Food in Restoration

Support the integration of food production into restoration initiatives.

Work with restoration champions to apply sustainable practices.

Contribute to monitoring impacts on productivity and ecosystems.

Help develop case studies highlighting local best practices.
4. Knowledge Sharing & Reporting

Draft technical notes and field reports.
