Description

The intern will support the Food Systems Practice under the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) as part of the Food and Power Initiative (FPI). This initiative focuses on addressing systemic power dynamics in global food systems and is entering its second phase with global, country-level and secretariat-level workstreams. The intern will assist in stakeholder coordination, knowledge management, research, and communications tasks in support of this initiative.

This is an unpaid internship, though a monthly stipend may be provided in accordance with UNDP policy. Remote or on-site participation is allowed, but interns are responsible for equipment, internet, and insurance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support preparation and coordination of calls, webinars, and virtual workshops.

  • Manage collaborative tools and knowledge management systems for FPI working groups.

  • Assist with internal filing systems and partner databases.

  • Prepare presentations, briefing notes, slide decks, and meeting minutes.

  • Conduct stakeholder mapping of donors, grassroots networks, strategic partners, and related events.

  • Perform research on donors, fundraising, and other relevant thematic areas.

  • Draft and design communications content, support social media and website updates.

  • Carry out other related tasks as needed.

Job Requirements

Education
Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Be enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s programme in relevant fields such as sustainable development, agriculture, political economy, international development, etc.

  • Be enrolled in a graduate programme (second university degree or higher).

  • Be recently graduated (within one year) from a relevant programme.

Experience

  • Experience in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation.

  • Experience in writing, editing, and communications.

  • Familiarity with sustainable development, food systems, climate, or social change topics is an asset.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in English is required.

Internship Conditions

  • Internship is unpaid, though stipends may be provided.

  • Interns are responsible for securing their own health insurance.

  • Remote interns must supply their own equipment and workspace.

  • No expectation of employment with UNDP after the internship.
