Trinidad and Tobago has a high species diversity to surface area ratio owing to its small size, strategic location and geological relationship with the South American continent. Its ecosystem range encompasses evergreen seasonal, semi-evergreen seasonal, deciduous seasonal, littoral woodlands, lower montane rainforests, seasonal montane forests, montane rainforests, elfin woodlands, swamp forests (including mangrove woodlands), palm swamps, marshes and savannahs.

• Trinidad and Tobago participated in the Caribbean Regional Trialogue organized under BES-Net I in September 2018.
• Under BES-Net II, the country is receiving catalytic support through the BES Solution Fund to implement key priority national actions identified during the Trialogue.
• The country is working on enhancing pollinator identification and raising awareness among policymakers and practitioners from various sectors. Guided by the IPBES Pollinators Assessment, efforts have been focused on capacity-building, including areas such as macrophotography, stingless bee management, bat pollination and pollinator garden design.
