The Plant Production and Protection Division (AGP) promotes the sustainable intensification and diversification of crop production.  This requires the integration and harmonization of all appropriate crop production policies and practices within the broader framework of sustainable food and agriculture that aims at enhancing productivity; natural resources conservation; rural livelihoods and resilience.
 
The post is located in the Secretariat of the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) procedure for certain hazardous chemicals and pesticides in international trade (AGPMR). The Secretariat is provided jointly with UNEP in Geneva. AGPMR is one of six teams in the Division. The Team provides technical advice and guidance to Parties in support of the implementation of the Convention as well as servicing meetings of the Conference of the Parties and associated subsidiary bodies. The incumbent works in close cooperation with technical staff in Geneva, FAO Headquarters and decentralized offices.
