Description

Through its Climate Resilience Program, The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) New Jersey chapter is addressing and lessening the impacts of climate risks across New Jersey with priority initiatives focused in our urban and coastal landscapes.  Our overall approach focuses on delivering, through partnerships, large-scale conservation policies and projects that have the greatest outcomes for people and nature. 

The Climate Resilience Manager will play a major role in statewide and regional planning and climate resilience policy efforts with an emphasis on integrating TNC’s values of equity and justice.  Working to further both our urban and coastal initiatives, this position will offer the opportunity to advance nature-based climate resilience in New Jersey. This a full-time position with a flexible office location (including a home office) within the State of New Jersey.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Climate Resilience Manager will represent the New Jersey Chapter of The Nature Conservancy to federal, state and local partners, as well as other key stakeholders to advance the use of nature-based solutions as a means to help New Jersey’s communities adapt to the impacts of climate change. The Climate Resilience Manager will influence the use of nature-based solutions across the state and regional scales by: building relationships with diverse stakeholders, developing inclusive partnerships that prioritize equity and nature, and helping to establish stakeholder-driven processes to advance both policies and planning efforts that will maximize the use of nature and natural infrastructure to address climate risks and equitably increase the resilience of communities across the state.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Develop strong working relationships with federal, state and local partners, including government agencies, community leaders, and environmental, urban and other non-profit organizations.
  • Leveraging TNC expertise on nature-based solutions, work with partners on statewide and regional resilience and hazard mitigation efforts to developing plans and implementing actions that prioritize nature-based solutions and environmental justice.
  • In conjugation with TNC’s government relations team, develop and implement resilience policy and funding priorities.
  • Review and draft comments on proposed resilience legislation, rules, etc., at both the state and federal levels.
