Description

The Conservation Information Manager provides administrative, project management, communications, and other assistance to lands and stewardship staff toward the achievement of organizational goals. They gather, analyze, and manage conservation information and support planning and executing projects and legal responsibilities. These include collecting and analyzing various types of data, tracking team progress, communicating with project managers and conservation partners, producing basic maps using GIS software, generating reports, and assisting with grants and contracts.

The Conservation Information Manager manages and maintains project records, conservation databases and monitoring systems related to legal requirements, internal policies, and land stewardship activities. They assemble and maintain land protection, science, and management information from various sources. They support tracking and approval of compliance with legal requirements and internal policies for TNC real estate interests. They provide technical support in GIS and build, maintain, and quality-control geospatial and tabular data related to TNC land interests and stewardship activities. They design and produce queries and reports, analyze data, and process data sets. They support conservation transactions (acquisitions and dispositions) with project screening, review, due diligence, approval, and implementation. This is a 3- year term position, with the possibility to extend contingent on performance and available funding. This position is based out of the New Haven, CT office with a hybrid schedule.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • MS or BS degree and certification in related field and 3 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing, maintaining and populating databases and manual files.
  • Experience with interpretation of image analysis, complex spatial analysis, data modeling and landscape scenario analysis.
  • Experience managing multiple projects.
  • Experience operating GIS software, analyzing data and producing data reports and creating maps; if no GIS experience, an individual with a willingness to learn and take self-guided training will be considered.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Web Browsers.
