Description

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Resident Representative, the Environment and Green Economy Adviser acts as advisory support for  the Country Office (CO) programme in Armenia (indicatively 50% of the time) and for the Regional Bureau for Europe and Central Asia-RBEC (as part of UNDP’s  Global Policy Network – GPN), in the area of Climate and Environmental policy, including: green economy, conservation and sustainable use of natural resources, Climate Change (including but not limited to Climate Promise, support to NDC implementation, Low Emission Development Strategies)  (indicatively 50% of the time).

The main role is to support programme strategic planning, resource mobilization, identification of new programme directions, country programme implementation and management support in the assigned area. At the regional level the advisor will be supporting UNDP Country Offices in their efforts with national counterparts to meet the requirements of the Paris Agreement, as well as, contributing to the corporate UNDP Climate related initiatives. The Adviser is expected to provide contributions to assigned aspects of both UNDP country and regional programme in the respective areas.

Environment and Green Economy Adviser works in coordination with the Team Leader of the Environment Portfolio for the national component of the work, and the UNDP Regional Team leader of Climate and Disaster Team for the regional component of the work, and in collaboration with  Programme and Operations teams in the CO, Programme staff in UNDP COs in the region, other UN Agencies, and Government officials, technical advisors and experts, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society to successfully implement the UNDP programme.
