Work closely with the Program Manager and Project Coordinator in the implementation and monitoring and evaluation of Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) and climate adaptation initiatives in the assigned project site. Ensure that the interventions and activities are aligned and are in compliance with donor requirements such as but not limited to avoiding the conversion of natural lands, restoring degraded ecosystems, improving land management, and mitigating greenhouse emissions at the same time promoting nature and biodiversity.
Provide technical expertise and influence decision-makers from local and national government agencies, stakeholders, corporate representatives, and CIP senior management. They will work closely with CIP technical team to align policies, systems, best practices, and tools.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Implementation
- Implement programmatic NCS and climate adaptation initiatives, plans, and interventions in assigned project site compliance with donor requirements, CI goals, work plans, and budgets.
- Support the Program Manager and Project Coordinator in the implementation of all assigned activities including coordination with the project staff, partner communities, local government units (LGUs), and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate the formulation of assigned site detailed implementation plan, annual/monthly work plans, and budget.
- Initiate onsite interaction with targeted communities and partners and ensure that planned activities are aligned with the implementation plan.
- Provide technical support in day-to-day project implementation and ensure efficient and effective use of CIP equipment and resources compliance with policies, procedures, and internal systems.
- Lead in project planning for NCS activities including complementary sustainable landscape and climate adaptation appropriate to assigned project sites.
- Capacitate local government units and communities using proven methods and tools to implement sustainable landscapes and natural climate solutions-related interventions.
- Liaise between the field office and CIP technical team for the day-to-day implementation of project activities.
- Keep track of NCS and climate adaptation-related updates and ensure various stakeholders are well-informed and changes are approved and incorporated to work plans and budgets.
- Consider and incorporate traditional practices with science-based solutions suitable to the needs of the communities and indigenous people.
Monitoring and Evaluation and Report Preparation
- Provide project data and use M&E framework, findings, and results to enhance project design and implementation.
- Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of plans, activities, and targets.
- Submit activity and progress reports, feedback, and observations from the field to ensure informed decisions by CIP senior management and donors.
- Assist the Program Manager and Project Coordinator on data collection and monitoring tools including among beneficiaries and field partners.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work may be performed in a remote location.
- Flexibility to travel occasionally as needed.
- This position follows a hybrid work structure, working some days from the office and some remotely. Guidance will be shared during the interview process.
- Fix-term assignment, anticipated to begin on January 2, 2024, and end on September 30, 2026.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 2 to 4 years of directly related experience in the development and implementation of conservation initiatives with an international NGO.
- Proven technical expertise in forest, agriculture, and natural resources.
- Excellent organization, facilitation, and communication skills.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree holder in environmental science, climate science, forestry, or ecology.
- Work experience with a USAID-funded project.
- Knowledgeable in carbon modeling and/or carbon standards.
