Description

Ocean Conservancy seeks an Individual Philanthropy Officer to coordinate and implement effective strategies to drive income from individual donors and family foundations. The Officer will independently manage and solicit a portfolio of donors giving over $10,000 annually and be integral in efforts to raise Ocean Conservancy’s organizational visibility and presence in key geographies. The position will also help oversee and drive effective stewardship and cultivation of mid-level donors ($1k+) under the organization’s Champions for Sea Change program. This position reports to the Director of Individual Philanthropy and is part of Ocean Conservancy’s Individual Philanthropy Group team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

In partnership with the Director, support individual giving program revenue growth by building strong relationships with donors and team members. This position will:

  • Manage and build a personal portfolio of approximately 100 individual donors and prospects through in-person visits, targeted solicitations, and personalized communications.
  • Create individual goals and a comprehensive plan for each person in the portfolio and track portfolio activity and progress towards the portfolio income goal.
    Manage a national travel schedule (up to 50% of the time) that drives in-person meetings with donors and prospects for cultivation, qualification, and solicitation.
    Build individual portfolios and drive new major gifts to the organization through effective prospect identification, research, and qualification.
  • Draft compelling proposals and pitches to donors and prospective funders that translate technical concepts into convincing narratives. Produce and distribute regular monthly program updates for donors.
  • Build collaborative relationships with gift officers on the Planned Giving team to identify prospects and create holistic cultivation and solicitation plans for major donors that lead to transformational gifts.
    Maintain database integrity and independently extract/upload donor lists and information from Raiser’s Edge.
  • Empower and facilitate dynamic and strategic cross-pollination to ensure that every donor receives the best possible experience.
