NRDC is seeking a Senior Director, Data Infrastructure to work within the Information Technology team. The position reports to the CIO.

 

The Director will be responsible for the technical oversight of NRDC’s CRM and data infrastructure. S/he will be charged with developing the strategy and standards by which NRDC’s CRM and data infrastructure are built and maintained. The Director leads both strategic and technical development and works closely with the creative, editorial and fundraising and advocacy teams. The Director owns all data infrastructure across the Salesforce platform and is responsible for the security and stability of all of the systems including Salesforce NPSP, Marketing Cloud, and Springboard. This role oversees the intersection of data infrastructure, CRM, and all other digital tools. This position is charged with ensuring that all NRDC’s digital properties are agile, stable, and secure. This position also oversees direct reports responsible for programming, server technologies, project management staff, and technical consultants.

• Direct every aspect of NRDC’s Salesforce implementation and extended data infrastructure, using and iterating on an existing roadmap with critical timelines, utilizing internal and external resources for guidance and execution, and overseeing technical details.
• Ensure that NRDC is choosing the best processes and tools for users in Development, Communications, for gift processing, marketing, reporting and analytics, and beyond.
• Understand the business needs and develop an online technology strategy and oversee its maintenance, implementation, and growth. Partner with other operational systems teams across the organization to develop project plans and specs for development.
• Develops online systems that work seamlessly and support the work of other departments, ensuring work is integrated and the organization’s CRM and data infrastructure needs are met.
• Collaborate on development of digital platforms including analytics, email marketing, content management system, and constituent relationship management (CRM).
• Direct the integration of our data platforms to ensure that we are tracking and securing data in the best possible ways.
• Direct system and data integrity and governance by establishing end-user best practices, standards around security and privacy, and performing QA on what we are developing.
• Responsible for front and back-end solution architecture, development release management strategies, and change management. Ensure all development work such as design implementation, whether managed internally or by service provider, follows established standards, processes, application guidelines, and technical architecture.
• Build relationships throughout the organization and be an ambassador for our data platforms. Provide regular updates to user base on roadmap or upcoming initiatives.
• Work directly with stakeholders across the institution to learn about business processes and technical build plans to ensure that our platforms meet stakeholder use cases.
• Manage CRM and data infrastructure projects, and oversee vendor and internal code development.
• Manage and mentor a team of administrators, specialists, and vendors who work across the organization to build out our data systems.
• Provide guidance and oversight, and responsible for the overall integrity of the development of our platforms.
• Oversee the budget and ensure that we are building cost effective and strategic tools that will grow with the organization.
