Description

Result of Service: To secure prominent, accurate and substantive international media coverage of GLO3 and communicate its key scientific findings and policy implications through leading global and relevant regional media, including interviews with UNCCD leadership and scientific experts.

Established in 1994, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is the sole legally binding international agreement linking environment and development to sustainable land management. The Convention seeks to support countries to address Desertification, Land Degradation, and Drought (DLDD).

The Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Unit supports the integration of scientific evidence into policy and decision-making, including through the Global Land Outlook (GLO). The third edition (GLO3) is a flagship UNCCD publication on sustainable land management, restoration and related global challenges. Its launch offers an opportunity to communicate scientific findings and policy implications to international audiences.

The Senior Media Consultant will support planning and implementation of international media outreach for the GLO3 launch under STI supervision and in coordination with the Communications, External Relations and Partnerships (CERP) Unit, with the aim of generating accurate, substantive international coverage.
