Description

Can you help us protect people and planet? Please come join Friends of the Earth’s fundraising team and help us achieve our ambitions!

We have seen steady growth in donations from major donors over the last five years and are continuing to invest and develop our Philanthropy programme. You can help us continue this. We are recruiting for a temporary, 35 hours per week Senior Philanthropy Officer to cover for maternity leave. We have planned an extensive handover period to ensure you feel well supported by your team-mates and confident in managing your portfolios.

What You’ll Be Doing…

You will manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors, focusing on cultivation, stewardship, and uplift strategies to reach annual income targets, as well as the qualification of new prospects.  In addition, you will line manage a Philanthropy Officer who is responsible for the management of the High Value Programme, our programme for donors between the individual giving and major donor level.

You’ll be working as part of the Philanthropy team within our established Major Partnerships team, which manages over £7 million of relationships with major donors, trusts, corporates, and donations from legacies. We have recently introduced a new prospect research function to work closely with the team alongside our Events and Stewardship Officer.

Who we are looking for…

We‘re looking for someone who is creative, thoughtful and understands donors’ motivations to give. You’ll be skilled in written and email communications and be comfortable in meetings and giving presentations to donors. You’ll also love working collaboratively across the organisation to develop compelling asks for donors.

Closing date: Sunday 26 September

We offer a competitive range of benefits, good work/life balance, excellent learning and development opportunities and a vibrant, supportive organisational culture.

We are an equal opportunities employer and are especially keen to encourage applications from people currently under-represented in the environment movement including people from BAME backgrounds and/or disabled people.

Friends of the Earth is an international community dedicated to protecting the natural world and the wellbeing of everyone in it. We lead campaigns, provide resources and information, and drive real solutions to the environmental problems facing us all.
