The Environmental Working Group (EWG), a leading environmental health research and advocacy organization, is seeking a Vice President, Strategic Marketing for its Washington, D.C., office.

EWG’s mission is to fight for the right of all Americans to live in an environment free of toxic chemicals. We do this by educating consumers on what chemicals lurk in their personal environment – including their water, food, personal care products, and cleaners – and empower them to fight for better products and policies.

The Vice President, Strategic Marketing is responsible for the organization’s marketing, branding, social media and public relations, campaign promotion and market research. This position will drive the overall brand awareness of EWG and its mission; including but not limited to increasing visibility of EWG’s work and engagement with celebrities, influencers, and key online outlets.

You have successfully built and maintain relationships with industry leaders, business partners, and key press contacts.   • Serve as EWG’s brand ambassador, champion, and storyteller.
  • Develop and execute EWG’s overall marketing and communications strategy to support overall brand growth.
  • Execute social media strategy, including partnering with social media influencers and celebrities, that support EWG’s overall communications plan, events strategy and key EWG program priorities as identified throughout the year
  • Design, create, and implement a comprehensive cross-channel marketing strategy and established KPIs.
  • Lead all marketing efforts, including but not limited to brand management, key messaging, digital materials, social campaigns, and outreach plans to advance EWG’s strategic and operating objectives with a large focus on EWG VERIFIED™.
  • Act as primary point person for EWG VERIFIED companies and brand marketing teams to support program promotion and needs.
  • Establish EWG VERIFIED launch strategies that build awareness for the program and new member brands
  • Identify and manage relationships with external online content channels and likeminded like wellness and lifestyle brands and spokespeople.
  • Manage EWG social content channels including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, podcasts, etc.
  • Oversee creative team, including graphic designers and video producer, to ensure that EWG’s creative content best presents its brand.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with EWG partners and key influencers
  • Work with EWG development, communications, and digital teams to develop key messages for EWG on the mission, strategic plan, and current initiatives.
  • Stay on top of current industry trends in social channels, particularly with an eye on wellness, clean beauty, and chemical safety. Make recommendations for application accordingly.
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision making around social marketing campaigns
  • Develop and manage team dedicated to social channels, influencer marketing, and online content production.
