The Microbiology Consortium of the Philippines, Inc. will host its monthly webinar titled “The Long and Winding Reads: Advancing Pathogen Genomics in the Philippines through Long-Read Sequencing.” The session will explore how long-read, third-generation sequencing technologies enhance pathogen surveillance, outbreak response and evidence-based biosecurity strategies.
Dr Andrew D. Montecillo, Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, will discuss the application of advanced genomics platforms in strengthening research and diagnostic pipelines. The webinar will highlight the role of long-read sequencing in improving genome resolution, structural variation analysis and public health preparedness in biodiversity-rich and agriculture-dependent contexts.
