This capacity-building workshop aims to advance the effective implementation of Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) at the national level in the Central Asia region to combat pollution. The workshop will focus on the synergetic implementation of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions (BRS Conventions), the Minamata Convention on Mercury (Minamata Convention), the UNECE Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution (Air Convention), UNECE Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (Aarhus Convention) and its Kyiv Protocol on Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (Protocol on PRTRs), including in the context of the Global Framework on Chemicals (GFC).

This workshop is organised by UNEP Law Division in collaboration with the UNEP Central Asia Office and in partnership with the BRS Secretariat, the Minamata Secretariat and the UNECE Secretariats of the Aarhus Convention and Air Convention.
This event is targeted to National MEAs and Montevideo Programme Focal Points, other government representatives, international organizations and UNCT Focal Points from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
English and Russian will be the working languages of the conference.
