Santa Fe Workshops collection of free online events, Creativity Continues features a special summer evening with renowned photographer, filmmaker, and National Geographic Explorer Ami Vitale. Ami’s extraordinary career has taken her to over 100 countries, where she has witnessed the full spectrum of human experience—from civil unrest and violence to the surreal beauty of nature and the enduring resilience of the human spirit. Her experiences, from living in mud huts and war zones to contracting malaria and donning a panda suit, embody her philosophy of “living the story.”

In this online event, Ami shares her journey through some of the most pressing and powerful stories she has captured – stories of humanity, wilderness, war, and climate change. As the founder of Vital Impacts, a nonprofit that empowers women in photography and visual storytelling, she has supported community-based conservation efforts and elevated visual journalists dedicated to environmental storytelling. Join Ami as she reflects on how storytelling and visual journalism play a crucial role in addressing the world’s most urgent environmental challenges.
