The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) will host a webinar to launch its latest Technology and Economic Assessment Panel (CCAC-TEAP) report on reducing methane emissions from landfills through biocover systems.
Methane is a potent short-lived climate pollutant and landfills are among the fastest-growing anthropogenic sources, often emitting for decades after closure. While solutions do not necessarily require complex infrastructure, effective methane oxidation depends on sound design, construction and long-term management.
The new report outlines the climate, air quality and health benefits of biocovers and provides practical guidance on design, financing and integration into waste management systems. The session will bring together policymakers, researchers and waste management practitioners to examine implementation pathways and real-world applications.
Participants will gain insights into the scale of landfill methane emissions, the science behind methane oxidation in biocover systems, key recommendations from the CCAC-TEAP report and practical strategies for financing and deployment. The webinar will include expert presentations followed by a Q&A session.
Registration is available via the CCAC website.
