Join us on Thursday, August 14, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. for a fun and educational experience at Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve. We will begin with a 45-minute (~1 mile) walking tour led by Preserve Manager Aaron Mrotek, and end near the visitor center to observe insects. Dr. Joe Cicero will use a blacklight to draw them in from the nearby fields and riparian area, highlighting synchronous fireflies and rare glow worms that may be found during the evening.
About Dr. Joe Cicero: Joe has a PhD in Entomology from Gainesville, Florida and a Master of Science from the University of Arizona and professes expertise in insect faunistics, the evolution of insect ontogeny, external and internal insect anatomy, with secondary studies in botany and electron microscopy.
