The Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform is organising a webinar on renewable energy and land-use, highlighting approaches to balancing the energy transition with agricultural production, biodiversity conservation and community interests.
The session will showcase practices from the EAGER, BiodIvErSe and REMOTE projects, including agrophotovoltaics, biodiversity-sensitive solar PV, multiple land-use concepts and renewable energy planning in island and outermost territories. Discussions will explore how large-scale solar, wind and bioenergy developments can create local benefits while minimising land-use conflicts, particularly in rural areas and regions with limited land availability.
Speakers will address policy, planning and regulatory challenges, emphasising the importance of inclusive processes that engage farmers, energy developers, researchers and local communities. The webinar will provide insights into how coordinated decision-making can support environmental, economic and social sustainability in the transition to renewable energy.
