This official side event will explore how the National Outlook on Indigenous and Local Knowledge of Biodiversity Initiative can serve as a practical tool to accelerate the implementation of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans and advance the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework targets.
Organized as part of the CBD’s first meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Article 8(j), the session will spotlight early lessons and emerging insights from three pilot countries – Malawi, Namibia, and Trinidad and Tobago – which are also countries engaged in BES-Net’s work.
The event will offer a platform for dialogue among policymakers, Indigenous representatives, and biodiversity experts on the integration of ILK in national planning and decision-making.
