The Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN), together with partners, is organizing a global online discussion on the role of insurance in mobilizing finance for biodiversity conservation and climate resilience.
The webinar will explore how insurance solutions can support biodiversity finance through practical examples, including compensation schemes for human wildlife conflict and financing mechanisms for ecosystem restoration. It will examine key questions around designing, scaling and implementing insurance approaches that reduce nature related risks while supporting conservation outcomes.
The discussion will bring together representatives from governments, the insurance sector, conservation organizations, academia and development agencies to share experiences and practical lessons. The event will also mark the global launch of Designing Insurance for Nature: A Practical Guide, a new resource developed to support practitioners in designing and implementing insurance solutions that contribute to biodiversity goals.
