This policy brief builds on previous Natural History Museum analysis of 30by30 implementation on land, while offering new insights in support of the ‘global review of collective progress’. It aims to deepen understanding of progress so far, alternative pathways towards successfully implementing 30by30, and the value judgements embedded within those pathways. Alternative strategies prioritising different values of nature (intrinsic, instrumental or relational) are likely to lead to very different outcomes for biodiversity.
