Considering the challenges of controlling carmine spider mites and protecting pollinators, chitin deacetylase genes (TecCDA1 and TecCDA2) of spider mites were characterized as a group I and were expressed in a stage-specific pattern, which imply their role during development. The differences in sequences and structures between T. cinnabarinus and honeybee CDAs offer possibilities to design new selective pesticides protecting pollinator honeybees.
