The Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute (ABMI) and Ducks Unlimited Canada have partnered to pilot advanced wetland mapping methods tailored to Alberta’s diverse ecological zones. This upcoming webinar will share results from four pilot areas that tested artificial intelligence techniques, remote sensing data and field surveys to meet provincial standards for wetland classification and mapping.
With growing interest in scalable, high-accuracy wetland inventories, this session will highlight how new Earth observation datasets and AI approaches – including machine and deep learning – can support biodiversity mapping and conservation planning. The presentation will also unpack key challenges in scaling these methodologies, including data, accuracy and computing demands.
