The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) will hold an online webinar on 7 October 2026 focused on key knowledge gaps identified in the Methodological Assessment Report on the Impact and Dependence of Business on Biodiversity and Nature’s Contributions to People, also known as the Business and Biodiversity Assessment.
The webinar will support implementation of objective 3 of the IPBES rolling work programme up to 2030 on strengthening knowledge foundations, with particular attention to knowledge generation catalysis.
The session will begin with a presentation of the updated IPBES database of identified knowledge gaps, which is being further developed to allow users to access, filter and search gaps identified across IPBES assessments. Experts from the Business and Biodiversity Assessment will then present key knowledge gaps from the assessment and discuss efforts and initiatives that could help address them.
Participants will have an opportunity to exchange experiences on generating new knowledge and provide suggestions for strengthening the uptake of identified knowledge gaps, including through engagement with research funders and other funding organizations.
