The National Ecosystem Assessment Initiative at UNEP-WCMC will host a webinar presenting key findings from Thailand’s first comprehensive assessment of marine biodiversity and ecosystem services.
The webinar will examine changes affecting Thailand’s marine and coastal ecosystems, including coral reefs, mangroves and seagrass beds, as well as the economic value of marine ecosystems. The assessment team will also present future scenarios for Thailand’s oceans to 2050 and discuss their implications for biodiversity, livelihoods, national biodiversity planning and the blue economy.
The session will highlight how Indigenous and Local Knowledge from Chao Lay and small-scale fishing communities contributes to conservation, monitoring and early warning, as well as lessons from pilot landscapes in Trat and Phuket. Participants will hear from the assessment team, Thai government partners and other stakeholders about how the findings can inform restoration, planning and evidence-based marine policy.
