As part of the European campaign EUBEELOVERS, which promotes European honey and beekeeping, Beelife European Beekeeping Coordination and KONVIB will co-organise the webinar “From Hive to Harvest: Practical Solutions for the Protection of Bees.”
The webinar will explore how European Union policies, research projects, and stakeholder networks contribute to the protection of honeybees and pollination services. It will also highlight the importance of beekeeper and farmer engagement in ensuring that practical experiences and sector needs are considered in future policy discussions.
The session will address the growing challenge posed by the spread of Vespa velutina (Asian hornet), including research and management approaches being tested across Europe. Topics will include nest detection and tracking techniques, monitoring tools, and different control strategies, with a focus on opportunities for local application in Belgium.
The webinar will be delivered in Dutch by Dutch-speaking guest speakers, with simultaneous interpretation available in English, French, and German. It will bring together beekeepers, farmers, researchers, and other stakeholders to support knowledge exchange between practical experience and scientific research.
