Authorities across the British-Irish Council (BIC) Member Administrations are strengthening collaborative efforts to address the growing threat posed by Asian hornets. This webinar brings together public officials, researchers and practitioners to share updates on policy, rapid response measures and cross-jurisdictional strategies to prevent the species from establishing itself more widely.
Introduced in 2016, the yellow-legged Asian hornet poses risks to native invertebrates, including honeybees, and raises concerns for human health. Presentations will feature insights from the Channel Islands, Ireland, and mainland UK, exploring nest behaviour, eradication protocols, and technological innovations in detection and response.
